Diego Freitas

Craftmaster, carver of hearts.

Never settle. For good. Diego started his career as a handyman in an old-fashioned print shop in Brazil. Along with his first job came the love for design and craftsmanship, making him realize his graduation in economics was a mistake, and later taking him to a new course to live abroad. After a short period in Madrid, Lisbon was chosen as his new home and, inspired by the light of the city plus some really good friends, he started over in a healthcare agency, working his way up for over 5 years. During his Art Direction degree, he started freelancing for advertising agencies in London and Lisbon, followed by digital and guerrilla agencies. Right before being considered among Top 3 Art Directors in Portugal and winning his first international award with Guinness, he moved back to Brazil as Country Manager for his former agency FunnyHow?. Now working as Creative Director at Havas Life Sao Paulo, he set as his new personal goal to help change the healthcare advertising business, inspired by Brazil’s first Lion in Pharma. His work has been awarded Gold and Silver in Cannes, Clio, LIA, NYF, D&AD, CCP, Art Directors Club of Europe, Effie’s and Luso’s awards.

Mauro Arruda

Wordsmith, forger of minds.

You don't have to be less creative to work with healthcare – it's exactly the other way around. Mauro has lived up to this belief for over 25 years, and it’s been quite a ride. Following a solid experience in healthcare and consumer assignments, and having run his own advertising boutique shop in São Paulo, Mauro joined the Havas Health network in 2008 to found and lead the Brazil-based LATAM hub. Ten years later, he moved to the IPG network and started FCB Health's very first health shop in LATAM, where he stayed for another 5 years co-managing the agency with his partner Diego. As a senior copywriter, chief creative officer and managing director, Mauro has led local, regional and global communication projects for virtually all major health & wellness brands. His creativity awards include LIA, CLIO, The One Show, Epica Awards and Cannes Lions. Speaking of Cannes, Mauro was a jury member at the inaugural Lions Health edition; a live speaker with "It Only Hurts When I Don't Laugh", a witty discussion on the role of joy in healthcare; a gold & double silver winner at Lions Health and Lions Entertainment – and he has the pictures to prove it.
